RECYCLED COTTON BOOKMARK

Made from recycled, unbleached, scrap cotton fabrics & pure vegetable dyes. Through this project, low-income, marginalized artisans are now being given fair wages, clean working conditions and hope for a brighter future through this small business. Most of the artisans employed have migrated to this area from surrounding small towns and rural areas because of a lack of other economic opportunities. These artisans from the Rajasthan-based group are skilled in creating outstandingly beautiful tree free paper products from 100% cotton waste fabrics. They first blend scrap fabric with water until the mixture becomes a watery paste. To create the broad spectrum of colors available, vibrant azo-free dyes are added at this stage. Completed sheets are crafted into striking range of products including environmentally friendly stationery sets, organizers, journals, gift bags, photo frames.
