Old tin cans and other scraps of metal from businesses in the industrial area of Harare are turned into these delightful sculptures by artists using snips, pliers, and hammers.
Produced by the Mkankha Brothers: in 1986, five brothers, Moses, Peter, and Norman Mkankha, Charles Banda, and Emmanuel Homodza, founded the Improved Arts Project. The brothers come from a poor background. Having discovered their artistic talents, they founded the group to depict African natural history through metal.
